A group of Crossed plague survivors off the Scottish coast defend their isolated island and pretend that they are safe from the gleeful violent misery of the Crossed. In this first episode we are introduced to Shaky our narrator. Shaky is short for 'Shakespeare' the nickname he has earned because he was a writer before the Crossed. It is through the entries in Shaky's diary that we the readers will get to observe the fate of the survivor colony settled in on Cava a small islet in the Orkneys North of Scotland.
