JLA Gatekeeper is a 3 book series pitting the World's Greatest Super Heroes against a force of evil that has loomed from Sumerian times. This evil has the goal of a demonic invasion of Earth. The JLA with the help of Dr. Fate will have to travel though a one way portal into a prehistoric, demon infested world in order to rescue a heroine (and friend of Kyle Rayner) who had been abandoned in this Hell. The JLA battles monsters and forgotten gods and these demons reveal themselves as ghosts who in the past have attacked Atlantis, tormened the gods of Olympus and besieged a young Krypton. In the final book the team scours this Babylonian underworld in order to find five mystical artifacts in order to prevent a demonic invasion of Earth as well as finding a way back home. Dr. Fate (Hector Hall) appears in 2 books opening the portal and maining the gates from Earth.

In the HAWKWORLD Prestige Format mini-series (see Hawkworld (1989 Limited Series)), the tale of Thanagarian policeman Katar Hol was begun...and now his adventures continue in the HAWKWORLD ongoing series. The evil Byth has fled Thanagar for Earth, with Hawkman and Hawkwoman hot on his trail. On Earth, Katar and Shayera link up with the Thanagarian ambassador and begin to lay down roots for high-flying adventure set on Earth and Thanagar and all points in between.

The series was popular and so a Hawkworld ongoing was launched the following year.

Conan the Cimmerian #0 marks a transitional period in young Conan's life, as he spurns the magicians, turncoats, and legal trappings of the cities he's seen in order to return to the beloved northern frontiers of Cimmeria, where he was born and raised. It also marks a turning point in the artistic muscle that will fuel Conan's adventures throughout 2008 and beyond.
