Azriel must submit to an ancient ritual and parade through the streets of ancient Babylon after his relationship with the cities most powerful deity, Marduk, is discovered. To save his city and his family, Azriel must become a living "god", enduring the pain and horror of a slow, fiery, death to finally become the Servant of the Bones.

Yumiko was born in Japan but has made a life in London, losing herself in its cosmopolitan bustle. She has a gallery show of her art, a good job, and a good guy she plans to marry. The culture she grew up in seems very far away-until her brother phones with the news that their father has died. Yumiko returns to Tokyo and finds herself immersed in the rituals of death while also plunged into the rituals of life-fish bars, bullet trains, pagodas-as she confronts the question of where her future really lies. Chief discovers that a society of insect monsters want to kill this boy due to a mysterious virus that grows on his hand. He becomes a father figure to the boy and trains him how to survive insect monsters by becoming a great American ass-kicker.

Published as a stand alone color one-shot, Cody Starbuck was the middle chapter in Chaykin's long running serial. The first printing suffered from muddy color which was corrected in later re-printings.

Ian Edginton has co-created The Red Seas, Leviathan, Interceptor and American Gothic for 2000 AD. He has also scripted The Establishment for DC/Wildstorm as well as the graphic novels Scarlet Traces and Kingdom of the Wicked, published by Dark Horse. Simon Davis' unique, angular painted style has been a fixture of 2000 AD favourite Sinister Dexter for some years now. He has also found the time to create B.L.A.I.R. 1 and Black Siddha, as well as contributing to Downlode Tales, Judge Dredd, Missionary Man, Outlaw, Plagues of Necropolis, Tales of Telguuth, Tharg the Mighty and Vector 13. His most recent non-2000 AD work was on DC's JLA: Riddle of the Beast.
