Four-Fisted Tales: Animals in Combat

Four-Fisted Tales: Animals in Combat

In virtually every military conflict in recorded history animals have fought—and often died—alongside their human counterparts. While countless stories of the men and women who've served in the trenches, jungles, and deserts of the world's battlefields have been told, Four-Fisted Tales: Animals in Combat shares the stories of the animals who fought alongside them. From Hannibal's elephants in ancient Rome to mine-sniffing rats in Vietnam and everything in between, Four-Fisted Tales highlights the real-life contributions of these underappreciated animal warriors. Whether in active combat or simply as companions, these animals served and made their mark on history.

Lamentation

Lamentation

From the mind's eye of master storyteller Cullen Bunn (The Sixth Gun, Basilisk) and rising star Arjuna Susini (Made Men) comes a darkly glamorous tale of bone-splintering terror at the intersection of shadow and light... dream and nightmare... life and the grim specter of Death himself. After weeks of grueling rehearsals, a new production is set to begin at the famed Requiem theatre: Razide's Lament, three acts of gothic horror set inside a haunted castle with a story that some say is more than mere fantasy. Under the stern rule of a dedicated but temperamental director, the script seems to be ever-changing, and, more mysterious still, our lead actress has found herself cast in the role of a lifetime without so much as an audition. Her grand debut is fast approaching-and, with it, a barrage of razors in the night that will terrorize audiences and actors alike. There is no exit, no escape, and when the curtain finally rises, Razide himself will take center stage to cross the threshold into the unholy darkness that lies just beyond

Atom Archives

Atom Archives

Overview Following the resounding success of the revival of The Flash, Green Lantern, and the JLA, editor Julie Schwartz, the "architect of the Silver Age," turned his attention to another of DC's then-fallow Golden Age Heroes: The Atom. Like The Flash and Green Lantern, there had been an original Golden Age incarnation of a character calling himself The Atom. Although he was a long-lived character, he was frankly not much more than a short tough guy with a not-particularly inspired costume. But, this new Atom, now this was something really different! This guy really had some powers; Ray Palmer, by constructing a device employing the beam of a white-dwarf star, was able to shrink to any size - even microscopic - and vary his weight. Under Schwartz's guidance, writer Gardner Fox delivered his signature plot-driven sci-fi-influenced scripts, and the dynamic and slick art provided by the team of Gil Kane and Murphy Anderson produced perhaps the finest-looking book on the stands at the time. Now, readers new and old can enjoy the first eight appearances of the "Tiny Titan" collected here in his first Archive Edition!
