This series was formerly published by Gold Key Comics. This is the first issue published by DC Comics. First appearance of all characters. "Origin of the Ape Man" (Part 1) - This story retells Tarzan's origin as originally chronicled by novelist Edgar Rice Burroughs in the novel, Tarzan Of The Apes. "Tarzan's First Christmas" is reprinted from a newspaper strip originally printed on December 27th, 1931. "Arrival" is adapted from the Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel A Princess of Mars.
