He offers comfort to his fellow inmates, but is affected by the imprisonment himself. After a year of being a prisoner the ransom is paid and they are freed. However just months later Francis takes ill and is sick for a very long time. Finally Francis, known as "King of the Feasts" amongst his friends, returns to full health. Francis feels a greater desire to be a noble, and be accepted and he creates bigger and better parties, all the while spending his fathers money...

On their way out of the compound, secretly given permission by Youngblood field leader Shaft, the Bloodpool participants liberate some weapons and ordinance classified "outdated" and headed off.  The participants broke into two groups and the primary members of the program literally ran head first into a kidnapping at gunpoint.Operating on instinct alone the Bloodpool participants leaped from the vehicle, saved the intended victims and took the check written to them on the spot as an omen regarding their future: super powered mercenaries.
