This is the first Sonic the Hedghog series published by Archie comics. This series lasted 4 issues but was then turned into an official series.

The Madballs end up in a baseball game with the kids and when nearby Dr. Viktor Frankenbeans sees the odd-looking balls that look alive, he wants them for a scientific discovery which will enable him to win the Nobel Prize in "The Evil Dr. Frankenbeans." Issue also has "Corn-Ered" in which the Madballs have to rescue the kids who have been kidnapped by the evil Colonel Corn and his corn field empire.

This series ran for 32 issues, between 1997 and December 1999. The new series incorporated elements from the live-action sitcom, including modernized fashions and appearances for the aunts, and Salem's personality and backstory.
